Waxing & Threading
Waxing in Exeter
Hair removed from the root, so regrowth takes weeks rather than days. Booked by area, done properly, and over quickly.
Current price and appointment length are shown on Booksy.
What waxing is
Wax is applied to the area and removed with the hair, taking it from the root. Because the hair has to regrow from the follicle rather than from the surface, the area stays smooth considerably longer than it would after shaving, and regrowth comes back softer than a shaved stubble.
Different areas suit different techniques and your therapist will use the right one. If your skin does not tolerate wax well, or you are using skincare that rules it out, say so at booking — threading is available for facial areas and laser hair removal is worth discussing for anywhere you are waxing repeatedly.

Your appointment
What to expect
- 01
Before you come in
Let the hair grow long enough for the wax to grip — shaving right before an appointment means there is nothing to remove. Avoid exfoliating the area on the day.
- 02
Prep
The area is cleansed and prepared, and your therapist checks the skin before starting.
- 03
Waxing
Wax is applied and removed section by section. Each pass is quick.
- 04
Aftercare on the day
The area is soothed and any remaining hairs are tidied by hand.
Afterwards
Aftercare
General guidance only — your therapist will give you aftercare specific to your skin and your treatment on the day.
- Redness for a few hours afterwards is normal
- No hot baths, saunas, steam rooms or swimming for 24 hours
- Avoid sunbeds and direct sun on the area for 24 hours
- Skip perfumed products, exfoliants and heavy exercise for a day
- Exfoliate gently from a few days on to help prevent ingrown hairs
Waxing — your questions
How long does my hair need to be?
Long enough for the wax to grip properly — a few weeks of growth is the usual guide. If it is too short, the wax has nothing to hold and the result will be patchy.
How often should I book?
Most people settle into a rhythm of every few weeks, based on their own regrowth. Keeping to a regular interval tends to make each appointment easier.
Can I wax if I use retinol or acids?
Often not — those products change how skin responds to wax and can make it lift. Tell your therapist what you are using; threading is an alternative for facial areas.
How do I avoid ingrown hairs?
Gentle exfoliation from a few days after your appointment, and keeping a regular waxing interval rather than letting it grow right out, both help. If ingrowns are a persistent problem for you, laser hair removal is worth asking about.
