What powder brows is
Powder brows are created with a permanent make-up device that places pigment into the upper layers of the skin using a shading technique. Rather than drawing individual hair strokes, the colour is built up in fine dots that read as a soft gradient — denser through the body of the brow, lighter at the front.
It is a two-step treatment by design. The first appointment establishes the shape and lays down the colour. A touch-up 6–8 weeks later corrects anything that has healed unevenly and adjusts the depth once your skin has settled. The second appointment is part of the treatment, not an optional extra.

What to expect
- 01
Patch test and consultation
A patch test is carried out in advance. At consultation you will talk through the shape you want, your natural brow, and whether powder brows are the right technique for your skin.
- 02
Mapping
The brow shape is measured and drawn on before anything permanent happens. Nothing starts until you are happy with the outline in the mirror.
- 03
First application
Pigment is shaded in with the device. Colour will look noticeably stronger immediately afterwards — this is normal and it softens as it heals.
- 04
Healing
Over the following weeks the brows lighten and settle. Some patchiness during healing is expected and is exactly what the touch-up is for.
- 05
Touch-up at 6–8 weeks
Your therapist evens out the healed result and adjusts depth and shape. This is when the brow is actually finished.

Aftercare
General guidance only — your therapist will give you aftercare specific to your skin and your treatment on the day.
- Keep the area dry as instructed during the first healing days
- Do not pick or scratch any flaking — let it come away on its own
- Avoid saunas, steam, swimming and heavy sweating while healing
- Keep brows out of direct sun and use SPF once healed
- Hold off on facials, exfoliants and acids over the brow area while it settles

How long do powder brows last?
They are semi-permanent, so they fade gradually. How long that takes varies a great deal between people — skin type, sun exposure and skincare all play a part — so your therapist will give you a realistic expectation at consultation rather than a fixed number.
Why is a touch-up needed?
Skin heals unevenly and takes pigment differently in different places. The appointment 6–8 weeks later balances the healed result and sets the final depth. It is planned in from the start.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes. A patch test is carried out ahead of your appointment. Please allow for it when you are planning dates around an event.
Will it look harsh straight afterwards?
The colour looks stronger and more defined immediately after the appointment, then softens as it heals. That initial intensity is part of the normal process.
Can I have them over an existing tattooed brow?
Sometimes, but it depends entirely on what is already there — how dark it is, what colour it has faded to, and how much of it remains. Send a photo or come in for a consultation first.
